The Great Race 2014 has officially begun. There are three Team Stahls entries this year: Ted and Mary in a 1935 Auburn Phaeton, Brett and Dan in a 1941 Packard 120 Coupe, and Thomas and Benjamin Karr in a 1934 Ford Deluxe Phaeton. The race began in Ogunquit, Maine this past Saturday and will finish in The Villages, Florida on Sunday, June 29.
The race itself is a classic car endurance rally, not a first-to-the-finish race. Participants are given specific directions to follow for each stage of the race and a “correct” time to arrive at each checkpoint along the route. Scoring is determined by how close participants are to the correct time and how accurately they follow the directions.
Team Stahls is racing to help raise money for the VCRA Race for Autism, the official charity of the Great Race. If you’d like to contribute to this worthy charity, visit the Team Stahls fundraising page.
And you can follow the progress of the Team Stahl cars on the Spirit of Stahls Facebook page and on Ted’s blog.
Good luck to all three teams this week!
