What Services Do You Offer?
On a simple sheet of paper write down what services you offer on one side and your possible customers on the other. For each of your possible customers, list all the possible services and products they might need. Start with your community:
- Local businesses such as restaurants and grocery stores
- Church groups
- School clubs
- Club sports teams
- Dance and yoga studios
- Gyms and training centers
How Do You Stand Out?
Look at your list and consider what you offer that sets you apart from your competition and who you can target that your competition isn’t.
- Can you offer quicker turnaround than your competition?
- Do you offer unique designs not available elsewhere?

- Do you have a loyalty program or bulk discounts?
If you live in a larger city, your niche might have to be something different in order to stand out. Instead of “T-shirts with funny slogans”, think, “T-shirts with funny slogans for doctors, nurses and medical professionals.” If you live in a smaller area, your niche can probably be broader.
There’s always a need for custom T-shirts and other custom heat press items, but a niche can set you apart from the competition and get you thinking about new potential customers, or prospects, to target.
