It’s no secret that CAD-CUT® Glitter Flake heat transfer vinyl is one of the most exciting and versatile materials on the market. Dance and cheer teams incorporate the glitter effect into much of their apparel, as it embraces who they are in addition to offering increased visibility while competing. The fashion industry has also embraced the glitter trend. Undoubtedly, you’ve noticed the same trend with your customers requesting more bling on their garments, too. We’ve decided to let the cat out of the bag and offer our top 5 Glitter Flake vinyl tips so you can give your customers exactly what they want.
Secret #1
Let’s assume by now you have taken part in the glitter sensation and have Glitter Flake vinyl in-house. You followed the application instructions, cut it on your vinyl cutter, applied it with your heat press, and thought, “Wow! I love this stuff! It’s easy to weed, easy to apply, has a great hand, and most of all, it looks great.” However, when cutting red, raspberry, silver, gold, and light pink, I encountered a frustrating glitch – I couldn’t see the cut lines! I love Glitter Flake vinyl too much to let this minor issue stand in the way, so I found a solution – the freezer. Yes, you read that right. Put the cut material in the freezer for a few hours or overnight. As soon as you remove it from the freezer, roll the material while cold and the cut lines will appear, making weeding a breeze.
Secret #2
When light pink is applied to dark substrates it will no longer be light pink, but will appear a clear opalescent color. This makes it a great multi-use heat transfer material, getting two effects for the price of one.
Secret #3

How can I remove a glitter flake letter from name on a garment that is misspelled?
Hi Richard,
Unfortunately, items like Letter Remover Solvent will not work with Glitter Flake – the material may be removed but adhesive would be left behind. Glitter Flake letters apply permanently and cannot be removed.
