Prevent Dye Migration with Sublimated Sports Apparel

Selecting the proper heat transfer material can mean all the difference when heat printing sports uniforms.  There are a variety of fabrics and characteristics that uniforms are manufactured with, but sublimated polyester and polyester are the most popular.

Sublimation

Heat transfer materials are a great option for numbering and personalization when decorating sublimated apparel.  For best results, be sure to select a heat transfer material that blocks dye migration and can be heat applied at a lower temperature.

Be confident with AquaTru Dye-Block Numbers when decorating sublimated jerseys, patterns, or highly saturated polyester as it blocks dye migration.  Each AquaTru Dye-Block™ Number is centrally positioned on the carrier for easy placement. Double-digit numbers can be aligned with the carrier edges for perfect spacing.  Sports benefiting from AquaTru Dye-Block™ Numbers are soccer, volleyball, basketball, and baseball/softball.

Additionally, if you want to provide a unique raised finish and feel of silicone, Silicone Dye-Block in Pre-Cut Numbers can also be used when heat applying onto sublimated apparel, as it will block dye migration.  Silicone Dye-Block Pre-Cut Numbers are available in all number styles and can be ordered by the pack.

Helpful Hint: Be sure to check your cover sheet when applying to sublimated garments. The colors of the sublimated jersey can transfer onto the sheet, so you’ll want to replace it after each application to prevent the colors from transferring during subsequent pressings.

Polyester Mesh

Generally, contact sports will use jerseys made of polyester mesh, as the fabric can take on the rigors of sports.  When applying to a polyester mesh fabric you’ll want a heat transfer material that is durable and abrasion resistant.

Thermo-FILM® is recommended for these applications.  Thermo-FILM® is abrasion resistant, has high durability, outlasting the life of the garment, and is the #1 athletic material worldwide.  Numbers can be ordered by the pack with our cost effective Pre-Cut Numbers, or individually with our Pre-Spaced Numbers.  Thermo-FILM® is available in popular team colors and has a quick and easy application.  Sports to decorate with Thermo-FILM® are hockey, football, and lacrosse.

Helpful Hint: Provide a cost-saving option to teams wanting a 2-color Poly-TWILL look by suggesting Thermo-FILM® as the foreground color.  This will save time and stitches, saving your teams money and still providing a professional look.
