It’s Not Just the Big Orders…

Don’t think custom T-shirts can make a splash?  One such shirt, with a timely message, is receiving a lot of attention on the internet because of an actress and a hockey game.

As an actress, Elisha Cuthbert is certainly used to drama. As a hockey girlfriend, though, the “24” actress has become involved in some off-screen drama of her own. In overtime of a playoff game last week, Cuthbert’s fiancé, Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf, made a rather ill-advised play in the offensive zone, leading to Bruin David Krejci beating Leafs goaltender James Reimer for the game-winning goal.

Unfortunately, CBC cameras captured Reimer’s wife, April, and Cuthbert exchanging what seemed to be icy glares (and a Cuthbert roll of the eyes) in the stands. The video was an instant hit on the internet and was quickly posted on newspaper websites, sports blogs, and celebrity gossip sites. The ladies immediately took to Twitter to explain that they were not angry with each other, but were simply exchanging glances because of rude comments made by a fan sitting nearby.  Reimer tweeted, “For those who were thinkin @happyelishas and I were rolling our eyes @ eachother. Was the jerk beside us #rudecomment.”

One enterprising Leafs fan took the opportunity to create a custom shirt proclaiming his innocence. At Sunday’s game, cameras captured a fan sitting behind April Reimer, sporting a T-shirt reading, “It Wasn’t Me  #rudecomment.”

Thus, with a  simple blue shirt and some white letters, an internet sensation was born. Just goes to show that even small customization orders can have a big impact.
