Be footloose and fancy-free – start decorating shoes with the Hotronix Shoe Platen.

Just for kicks, we’re revisiting a post from back in 2013 about the Hotronix® Shoe Platen. If you’re decorating full uniforms from head to toe, or just looking to expand your repertoire, this is a great tool to have.

So, you’ve looked into heat-decorated shoes and decided to get a leg up on the competition. You’ve done some fancy footwork and found a way to shoehorn a new decorating method into your busy schedule. Now you’re ready to kick out the jams and start decorating shoes, but how do you get your foot in the door of this new trend?

A great place to start is with the Hotronix® Shoe Platen. This specially-designed interchangeable lower platen fits on any MAXX® or Hotronix® shirt heat press and allows you to decorate shoes one pair at a time. It fits most youth and adult size shoes and allows you to print designs up to 2″ x 4″.

Wondering what markets are looking for decorated shoes? In the video, “Shoe Customization with Heat Press Transfer Vinyl,” Josh Ellsworth shows how you can quickly and easily decorate all types of cleats with team names and logos or player names and numbers, sneakers, dance shoes, and even sandals with collapsible heels.

If you’re worried about damaging the shoe when heat pressing, there’s no need to be. Shoes should, of course, be tested before final application, but using a Flexible Application Pad with each application will protect the footwear.

Shoe designs are a great way to utilize scraps of heat transfer material left over after cutting other designs, plus they make a great add-on sale. With the opportunity to use leftover material, quick and easy application, and a wide variety of sales opportunities, decorated footwear can be an easy and profitable way to kickstart your business.

If you’re interested in heat decorating footwear, hit the ground running with the Hotronix Shoe Platen.

  1. Hi Patrick,

Indeed we do. Our 6″ x 15″ shoe platen will fit your MAXX Clam heat press. The platen is available in both original and quick change (no tools required) versions.

To determine which will fit for you, find the sticker on your heat press containing the “born on” date. If your press has a pre-2014 born on date, you can order your platen on our Original Platens page.

If your heat press was manufactured in 2014 or later, you’ll need a Quick Change Platen.
